Once a storyboard has been designed and approved then we can start on producing the media that will make up the training program.

The basic principle of creating media for Interactive Learning is that it must help the user "see" or better understand the subject matter being covered in the training.

Multimedia training

When deciding what media should be used, we look at the subject matter to determine how it can best be presented.

The type of media that might be used could include any combination of the following:

3D animations to create scenes, build realistic environments or to recreate hard to shoot objects Video Clips for subjects that require realism, for example human behavior
2D animations to help users better understand how something works or flows
Sound FX to liven up and add impact to the training
Still Graphics to help users "see" the subject matter. For example a series of still graphics can be used to show how to perform a task.
Narration to help the user better understand the subject matter.
Interactions and games to challenge the user
Text to outline important points.

Notes:

Keep in mind that it is bad design to have a user read a lot of text on a computer screen. Text should be short and precise.

It is much more effective to have a voice over for the text and then have pictures, graphics and animations to help the user "see" the meaning.

While 3D Animations, 2D Animations and Video Clips are great for use in Interactive Learning. They can be time consuming and costly to produce. Because of this they need to be used where they will have the most impact.
